The clutch handle on the drive clears the pod by about 1/2". With the motor in this position it was necessary to drill a new hole for the engine stop handle.

The positioning holes in the back of the drive only allow for mounting it with the motor in the 10 o'clock position. Drilling a new positioning hole solved that problem.

The new locator post won't fit without lowering the instrument pod. Two screws extend out of the binnacle to secure the pod. After drilling new holes in the pod to lower it, the new locator post can be attached using the same holes that were used to attac

The Mk2 wheel pilot has a larger diameter than the ST4000+. The instrument pod had to be lowered about an inch to eliminate interference with the wheel drive.

Fishing another wire up into the binnacle post wasn't easy.

The mounting plate is just a nailing plate found at the hardware store. It is easy to bend and drill, but stainless or aluminum would be better in a salt water environment.

Owners have used a few different materials to build the mount. These aren't pretty, but they allow easy bending and adjustment to get all the angles correct.

Rudder quadrant bracket made out of 1" wide, 1/8" thick aluminum strap.

Careful alignment is critical to proper operation. Also make sure the rudder stops are adjusted to prevent the transducer from pivoting beyond its limits.

This mounting location is (relatively) easy to access by sticking your head and shoulders thru the door in the aft cabin.

The molded-in rudder stop (1998 hull #545) on the port side of the rudder post is a good place to attach the rudder transducer. It can be drilled (up) into without penetrating the cockpit sole.
