Underside of starboard winch with hand-hole cover removed. Winch could not be located further aft or further outboard. If further inboard, the port winch would have interfered with the larger cockpit locker lid.

Underside of new winch viewed from inside port locker. Wood block is 3/4" marine ply. Side deck is also 3/4", so total is 1 1/2".

Teak platform could have had a steeper angle for better approach to new winch, but it's still OK; angle is too shallow to use upper block with forward winch. I recommend using a single block optimized for aft winch only.

Block on upper, small track prevents sheet from hitting the stainless rail when boom is let out to starboard. Wear steel toes when walking on side deck.

Not original (1995) configuration, but similar to current configuration with newer Garhauer blocks. Twist in sheet "happens".
