Did the ceiling tile make any difference to the engine noise?

Very much so, but I do not have any quantitative data to share.

Has anyone ever installed "Sound Down" insulation to the insides of their engine covers - either aft cover and/or forward cover under the companionway? If so, how well has that helped with cutting down heat and sound?
