This is the Vesper Marine XB8000 AIS transponder, $740 from Milltech Marine (milltechmarine.com). It is a Class B AIS transponder with built-in GPS and an external antenna. It creates a local-area WiFi network that transmits all GPS and NMEA information to up to five connected devices, including my iPad running the iNavX navigation app.
